Robert J. "RJ" Caraway, 91, of Ogallala, passed away on Wednesday, January 12, 2022 at the Ogallala Community Hospital in Ogallala, NE.
He was born on November 11, 1930 to William and Ethel (Chapman) Caraway at Beloit, KS. He attended school at Beloit High School, graduating with the Class of 1949. Robert was drafted into the United States Army from 1949-1953 and served in the Korean War
Robert moved to Ogallala in 1953 and worked for Arterburn Shoe Store in Ogallala. On October 30, 1955 he married Audrey Moore, they were married for 52 years. To this union 4 children were born, Russell, Andrew, Robin and Jill. In 1962 Robert and Audrey moved to Colorado where he worked for several ford dealerships selling cars and then worked for Brighton Ford until retirement in 1997 when they moved back to Ogallala.
RJ loved fishing, hunting, bowling and generally just loved being around people. He loved to talk to everyone around him and made a new friend everywhere he went. He was one of the Nation's best car salesmen and was featured in Time Magazine for his accomplishments.
Robert is survived by his daughter Jill (Ron) Plack of Northglenn, Co, 1 son Andrew Caraway of Ogallala, and granddaughter Stephanie (Ryan) Prunk of Brighton, Colorado.
He was preceded in death by wife, Audrey Caraway (2007), parents William and Ethel Caraway, son Russell (2001), daughter Robin (1962) and grandson Joshua Plack (2003).
Memorial services will be held at 10:00 am on Wednesday, January 19, 2022 at the New Hope Worship Center with Pastor Don Larreau officiating.
Interment will be in the Ogallala Cemetery with Military Honors by Keith County Veterans Honor Guard
