Richard D. Sherich, age 85, of Ogallala, NE, passed away, Wednesday, November 18, 2020 at the Ogallala Community Hospital.
Richard was born on July 27, 1935 at Lodgepole, NE to Harley and Maud (Shinn) Sherich.
He graduated from Lodgepole High School in 1953 and worked for Cheyenne Co.
In 1955 he met Shirley Green and they were united in marriage on July 5, 1957 in Scottsbluff, NE.
Richard moved to Ogallala and made his home there with Shirley. He went to work for the City of Ogallala Street Department, and then later went on to work as a Street Superintendent. In 1997, he retired after 40 years with the city.
Richard enjoyed shooting pool, watching stock car races, fishing, and cornhusker football.
Richard is survived by his wife, Shirley Sherich; 1 son, Kelly (Teri) Sherich, all of Ogallala; 1 brother, Bob (Lorraine) Sherich, of Yuma, AZ; 1 granddaughter, Kelsey (Nick) Rivers; 2 great-granddaughters, Mila and Rosalind Rivers, all of Chattanooga, TN; and special friends, Preston and Alex Tuttle who he enjoyed watching grow up, Richard and Shirley were their "Ogallala Grandparents".
He was preceded in death by his parents; 3 brothers; Glen, Burt and Dale Sherich; and 2 sisters; Jean Proctor and Norma Sherich.
A Memorial Service will be held, Friday, December 4, 2020 at 10:00 a.m. in the New Hope Church in Ogallala with Rev. Eric Wait officiating.

A memorial has been established to the Senior Citizens Center in Ogallala in his memory. 202 W 1st St, Ogallala, NE 69153 and the New Hope Church in Ogallala.
