Paul Eugene Kondy

Paul E. Kondy, age 84, passed away from Covid complications, Monday, February 1, 2021 at St. Francis Hospital in Grand Island, NE.  

Paul was born in Meadville, MO on September 4, 1936 to Albert and Mildred (Ketchum) Kondy.

Paul graduated from South High School in Denver, CO in 1954.  He was a graduate of Colorado State University in 1959 and Southern Baptist Seminary in January 1969.  After his first year at seminary, he took a break and enlisted as an officer in the US Navy and was stationed at the Naval Station Base in Argentia, Newfoundland Canada.  After discharge, he went to work on the Wedmore Ranch in western South Dakota.  He then returned to finish his seminary degree and begin his career in the ministry.  

He served rural parishes in western SD, Viborg, SD and Arthur, NE.  From Arthur, he began a 5 year stint as an area minister for Western Kansas living in Garden City, KS.  He wanted to finish his years of ministry in the pastorate and moved to Pierre, SD to pastor at First Baptist Church.  He retired in 1998 and moved back to Arthur, NE where he was residing at the time of his death.
     
Paul is survived by his wife of 59 years, Joanne, of Arthur; son Timothy and fiancé Pam Lopez, of Las Cruces, NM; daughter Rachel (Chris) Schroeder, of Grand Island; grandchildren Nick and McKenna Schroeder;  sisters Carrie (Robert) Dale, of Mechanicsville, VA; Martha (Denny) McGuire, of The Woodlands, TX; sisters'-in-law Lucy (Lamar) Caldwell, of Hartsville, SC; Marcia (Carrell) Brooks, of Concord, NC; and numerous nieces and nephews.  
     
He was preceded in death by his parents; mother and father-in-law; and aunts and uncles.

A Memorial Service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, February 6, 2021 at the Arthur High School Gymnasium in Arthur, NE with Pastor Robin Stoops of the American Baptist Church in Omaha, NE, officiating.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to the Arthur Community Foundation in Paul's memory.
