Muriel Kathleen Drost Suhr, better known as Kay Suhr, age 86 passed away on Wednesday, January 24, 2024, at the North Platte Care Center in North Platte, Nebraska.
Kay was born on June 13, 1937, to Dr. William Drost and Min (Welch) Drost of Ogallala, Nebraska. She grew up in Ogallala with her six siblings. Kay graduated from Ogallala High School in 1955 and attended College in Kansas for one year.
In 1957 she married Harold E. Suhr. They made their home in Ogallala, Grant, and Sutherland. They had three children Dan, Sheila, and Jim. The family enjoyed camping, boating, and fishing.
Kay was a devoted housewife and always had dinner on the table at 5:00. She loved playing cards and belonged to many card clubs with bridge being her favorite. Kay was also a talented bowler, scoring a 300-perfect game on two different occasions. While living in Grant she worked for the Kreider Agency as a Secretary. After moving to Sutherland in 1981, Kay worked at the Adams Bank as a teller and loan officer. She loved being around people and had a great sense of humor and quick wit.
Kay is survived by her children Dan and (Cheryl) of Aurora, Colorado, Sheila and (Mark) Olson of Elsie, Nebraska, and Jim and (Debbie) of Kearney, Nebraska; Thirteen Grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren; a sister Annette Reimers of Queen Creek, Arizona, and a brother Bill and (Carol) Drost of North Platte, Nebraska, and many nieces, nephews, and friends.
Kay is preceded in death by her parents Dr. William Drost and Min Drost, and her sisters Barbra Hinde, Margie Altig, Janie Davis, and Susie Bradley; her husband Harold Suhr, and a great-granddaughter Kayla Scherbarth.
Visitation will be Monday, January 29, 2024, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Sutherland, Nebraska from 3:00 pm- 5:00 pm Central Time.
Rosary will be on Tuesday, January 30, 2024, at 10:30 am with Mass of the Christian Burial following at 11:00 am Central Time with Father Loren Pohlmeier and Deacon Michael Davis Officiating at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Sutherland, Nebraska.
A memorial has been established for Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Sutherland, Nebraska.
Interment will be at 2:00 pm Mountain Time in the Ogallala Cemetery.
