Kim Channer Obituary

Kim B. Channer, age 65, of Arthur, passed away on March 30, 2020 at Arthur due to an accident.

Kim was born in Cedar Rapids NE to Charles and Mary (Cornwell) Channer. Kim attended school in St. Edward and graduated from St. Edward High School in 1973. Kim attended UNL and graduated with an Associate’s degree in Ag Economics. He returned to Belgrade NE to farm with his family. In 1986 Kim moved to Arthur NE and worked for the Enfield Ranch until 1996. Kim then went to work for Double C Construction for two years. Kim did day work until 2000 when he started his own construction business, Channer & Son.  Because Arthur County High School needed a shop teacher, Kim returned to college and completed his Bachelor’s degree and then took additional college hours to earn his teaching degree in Industrial Education.  Kim, while completing his college hours,  began teaching at Arthur County High School in 2009.  Kim retired from teaching in 2019.

Kim married Lynn Patterson in Arthur on November 25, 1995. To this union, they were blessed with two children, Kelsey Jae and Kasey Jay.

Kim was enjoying his retirement and loved to ride his Harley and drive his corvettes when possible.  He was working on several personal projects and helping people around the community. His hobbies included collecting and working on old cars, reading, woodworking, mechanics, haying, raising cattle and league bowling.

Kim was a deacon and Sunday School Teacher at the Arthur Baptist Church. He was an avid member of the Church and was active in many community projects through the church.   Kim was also a volunteer fireman in Arthur County for over 25 years. 

Kim was preceded in death by his parents Charles Vernon Channer, Mary Maude Channer and a wife Sandy Moreland Channer in 1993. He is survived by his wife Lynn Channer, daughter Kelsey (Walter) Carr, and son Kasey Channer all of Arthur; 3 sisters Sherry Gray St. Edward, NE Kandi (Todd) Bremer St. Edward, NE, Dawn Stephens, Des Moines, IA.

Cremation was chosen, a private burial was held at the Arthur Cemetery on April 4, 2020. 

A Memorial Service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, August 15, 2020 at the Arthur County High School Gymnasium with Pastor Blake Wilkes of the Arthur Baptist Church officiating.

A Memorial has been established to the Arthur Baptist Church and the Arthur Fire Department.
