Charlene “Pat” Patricia Skinner, 76, passed away on March 16, 2022, at Northern Colorado Medical Center, Greeley, CO. Pat was born on March 19,1945 in Kimball, NE to Ruth Charlene Karlstrum and James Patrick McNally.
After spending time in Pine Bluff, WY her family moved to Evergreen, CO where Pat graduated from Wheatridge High School. She later attended and graduated from the University of Northern Colorado with a Bachelor of Arts in Special Education. During her time at the university, she met her husband Rockney Dean Skinner, Ogallala, and they were married in 1967. Pat and Rock settled in Evergreen, CO where Pat taught special education at the elementary school. She and Rock later moved to Grand Island, NE, and taught for 7 years before relocating to Phoenix, AZ. While in Phoenix she taught in the special education department. In addition to teaching in Phoenix, she and Rock ran their own home restoration business called House Masters. In 1983 she and Rock moved back to Ogallala, NE where they both taught in the Ogallala School System. Pat was later promoted to Administrator of the Special Education department. Pat was also active with P.A.K.S Development Services of Ogallala, E.S.U 16, and the Kiwanis.
Pat enjoyed her time in the mountains, camping, jeeping and spending time with friends. She loved to remodel and decorate homes. Although Pat and Rock never had kids of their own, they helped raise a community of kids in their home, including fostering local children and friends in their time of need.
She is survived by her husband Rockney D. Skinner (Rockney passed away March 24th, 2022) of Ogallala, mother Ruth McNally of Phoenix,AZ; son Justin (Kimmy) of Omaha, NE, one sister, Tami Conway of Phoenix, AZ, three sister in laws, Cleone (Gordon) Steinmiller of Fort Collins, CO; Kristie Brill (Joseph) Switzer of Estes Park, CO; and Brenda Brill (Henry) Gimeson of Windsor, CO and one brother-in-law Roland (Pat) Skinner of Hay Springs, Ne.
She is proceeded in death by her father James P. McNally and a sister Noreen McNally.
The family has chosen cremation, Funeral services will be held to Honor Pat’s life; March 31st at 1 pm at the United Church of Christ, Congregational Ogallala, officiating the service will be Pastor Lisa Hadler.
A memorial has been set up in Pat’s memory for the Kiwanis club. Memorials can be mailed to Big Mac Kiwanis Club, P.O. Box 333, Ogallala, Ne 69153
