Wilma Hopken Obituary Wilma Ruth Hopken was born January 30, 1928 and on December 17, 2020 she went to be with her Heavenly Father. She was born to Enos and Helen (Houpt) McCollum in Keystone, Nebraska. She attended school in Keystone until her family moved to Idaho Springs, Colorado where she graduated. Her family then returned to Ogallala where she met Edwin James Hopken and they were married in November 1947. This marriage brought six children; Mike, Judy, Rod, Terry, Cindy and Kathy. The family resided south of Ogallala where they owned and operated the Open Corral Campground. Wilma or Granny to all that knew and met her, adored her children and grandchildren. They were her biggest joy in her life. Once she raised her six children she had the great pleasure in helping raise her twelve grandchildren. Her grandchildren spent many of hours at the campground swimming, eating ice cream bars and drinking pop. No matter how much commotion they caused she always had a smile on her face watching their activities. She instilled many life lessons to her grandchildren. Wilma had many talents that she enjoyed, including furniture refinishing, antiquing, sewing, knitting, weaving and stained glass art. She was a member of VFW Auxiliary, Questers Antique & Collectors Club and the Keith County Historical Society. Wilma is survived by children Judy (Dennis) Schulz of Paxton, Rod (Jackie) Hopken of Ogallala, Terry (Ada) Hopken of Ogallala and Kathy (Wendell) Brott of Gothenburg. Daughter-in-law Phyllis (Larry) Holscher of Ogallala. Twelve grandchildren Nick (Kristen) Holscher of Tennessee, Stacy (Caesar) Holscher of Paraguay, Zane (Mindy) Holscher of Florida, Michelle Hopken of Sutherland, JoAnna (Rick) Markiewicz of North Platte, TJ Hopken of Georgia, Luke (Stephanie) Hopken of Georgia, Syd Marie (Bryce) Rundback of Stapleton, Devin (George) Hallett of Paxton, Cooper Brott of Gothenburg, Matt Hopken of Colorado and Kari (Chris) Cumbie of North Platte. Eleven great-grandchildren Colin Hopken, Zeb Gregory, Carlos Holscher, Viviani Holscher, Michael Holscher, Alexander Markiewicz, Rowan Markiewicz, Harper Markiewicz, Bailey Hopken, Savannah Hopken and Hiro Hopken. And two foster great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband Ed, children Mike and Cindy, brothers Frank and Dale and sister Jackie. Visitation will be held, Monday, December 21, 2020 from 9:00 a.m.-6:00 p.m. with family greeting friends from 4:00 p.m.-6:00 p.m. at the Draucker Funeral Home Chapel in Ogallala. A Graveside Service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, December 22, 2020, at the Ogallala Cemetery with Pastor Eric Wait of the New Hope Church in Ogallala officiating. Masks are recommended.
