Vivian Blair, 81, longtime Ogallala resident, died Monday, July 1, 2013, at Indian Hills Healthcare Community. Vivian was born December 25, 1931, on the family farm south of Roscoe. Her parents were Martin and Jessie (Bills) Riedel. She attended rural schools. On May 22, 1959 Vivian married Earl Blair. The couple lived in Ogallala and were the owners and operators of the Paradise Motel. Vivian was employed at several businesses, including TRW, Goodalls Electric, Gibsons, Hardware Hanks, and Pizza Hut. When she retired in September 2010 she moved to Wellfleet, Nebr. to reside with her daughter and husband. She was a lifelong member of St. Pauls Lutheran Church and belonged to the Altar Guild and a Bible study group. Vivian was an RSVP member, volunteering at the Visitors Information Booth. Her hobbies included gardening, bowling, crocheting, and going for walks. Preceding her in death were her parents, her husband Earl Blair, and two brothers Virgil Riedel and Harold Riedel. Survivors include her children: Paula Blair of Ogallala, Pat Bloomberg of Hastings, Jay and his wife Monica Blair of Phillipsburg, Kan., Earla and her husband Kregg Bassett of Ogallala, and Jayne and her husband Mike Dunn of Wellfleet. Also eleven grandchildren: Mike Bloomberg, McKenzie Bloomberg, Mikaela Bloomberg, Joshua Blair, Mitchell Gleason, Melissa Blair, Jessica Blair, Matthew Blair, Megan Bassett, Morgan Bassett, and Molly Bassett. Also ten great-grandchildren: McKenna Bloomberg, Aidan Stroh, Rowen Bloomberg, Jaxtyn Martinez, Mia Bassett-Graves, Mason Bassett-Graves, Miles Bassett-Graves, Neaveh Dunn, Jocelyn Gleason, and Kylie Blair. At the request of the family there will be no visitation. The Funeral Service will be Friday, July 5, at 11 a.m. in St. Pauls Lutheran Church with Rev. John Stubenrouch officiating. A memorial has been established in her name.
