Vernice Mcshannon

Vernice Alora Reed McShannon, 81, of Ogallala and formerly of Osmond, NE, died Sunday, December 14, 2014, at Golden Ours Convalescent Home in Grant. Vernice was born August 27, 1933 in Osmond, Nebr., the daughter of Herman and Emma (Schmidt) Wiese. She attended country school and graduated from Osmond Public School. Vernice was baptized and confirmed in Osmond's Immanuel Lutheran Church. On June 28, 1951 she married Dale R. Reed in Osmond, NE. They lived in eastern Nebraska and had six children. After Dale's death, she moved back to the Osmond area. On October 18, 1965 Vernice married Robert B. McShannon in Madison, NE. They moved to western Nebraska in 1968. Later Vernice moved back to northeastern Nebraska where she lived until she moved to Ogallala to live with her daughter Beverly. Vernice loved working with children and doing crafts. She was a member of the VFW Auxiliary. Preceding her in death were her parents, her grandparents, husband Dale Reed in 1964, former husband Robert McShannon in 1990, daughter Sherlyn Reed, two sisters Phyllis Wiese and Arlene Albers, and brother Delhart Wiese. The family chose cremation. The memorial service will be Saturday, December 20, at 10:30 a.m. Central Time in the Stonacek Memorial Chapel, 1200 N. 13th Street, Norfolk, NE. Inurnment will be at Thabor Lutheran Cemetery at Wausa, NE.
