Thomas 'T.J.' Jarvis, 67, of Grand Island, died Thursday, May 5, 2016, in the Grand Island Vets Hospital. Thomas Howard Jarvis was born July 10, 1948, in Salamanca, New York, the son of Howard and Opal (Wymer) Jarvis. He entered the Marine Corps on August 31, 1966. He served two tours in Vietnam leaving with an honorable discharge in August 1970. T J was married twice having two daughters, Marllisa and Daisy, from his second marriage. In July of 2000, T J started a relationship with Leslie Harris and helped her finish raising her three daughters Katheryn, Linda, and Effie. T J was a recovering alcoholic and considered AA his saving grace. He enjoyed 22 years of sobriety. He was preceded in death by his mother, father, a wonderful stepdad Richard Hickman (who he lovingly call 'Pops'), and his beloved brother Mike. Survivors include both his daughters and their partners, his step mom (Catherine) and sister-in-law Peg; special friend Leslie Harris of Ogallala; step-daughters: Katheryn, Linda, and Effie and their partners; four brothers Steve, Larry, Danny, and Patrick and sister Sharon, and several grandchildren & step-grandchildren and nieces and nephews. The Graveside Service will be Monday, May 9, at 1 p.m. Central Time in Fort McPherson National Cemetery, Maxwell, NE, with the Marine Corps rendering the military honors. John Evert will officiate.
