Sylvia V. Porter

Sylvia V. Porter, age 100, of Ogallala, died Saturday, December 12, 2015, in her home. Sylvia was born June 29, 1915, in Central City, NE, the daughter of George and Evalina (Allen) Cook. When Sylvia was a young child the family moved to the Brule and Big Springs area where they farmed. Later she resided in Julesburg, CO and commuted to Ogallala to work at TRW. Sylvia retired in 1977. In 2014 she moved to Ogallala to be close to her family. Preceding her in death was her son LeRoy Porter in 2004, five brothers: Claude, Merle, Lester, Ivan, and Reynold; and two sisters: Fern Ramsey and Viola Hoagland. Survivors include her daughter-in-law Darlene Porter of Evans, CO; one sister-in-law Lola Cook of Laporte, CO; four grandchildren: Kim Reimers of Greeley, CO, Lisa (Andy) Byers and Justena Olin, all of Ogallala and Royal (Michelle) Porter of Westminster, CO. Also eleven great-grandchildren, 14 great-great-grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews. Graveside Services will be Saturday, Dec. 19, 2015, at 11 a.m. in the Crown Hill Cemetery in Wheat Ridge, CO. Pastor Amber Porter will officiate. A memorial has been established in her memory.
