Sylvia (Syl) Lydia Goodman, age 85 of Ogallala, NE passed away Wednesday, July 30, 2025, at Ogallala Community Hospital in Ogallala, NE.
Sylvia was born on June 3, 1940, in Hazen, North Dakota to Reinhold and Florence (Suess) Wittmayer. She grew up on a farm with her two siblings, Virginia Kelley and Frayne Wittmayer. As a child she loved to run and play outside, and she became a great cook and an immaculate house cleaner, traits she learned from her mother.
At the age of 16, she moved to Bismark with her sister where they both began their waitress careers. Shortly after that, they moved to Ogallala where they began their Nebraska Journey. She and Virginia enjoyed working together in several different restaurants including her two favorites: Pioneer Trails and The Dairy Creme.
Through the years she married and had three daughters: Kim, Georjean, and Lonnie. Sylvia was a vibrant, outgoing person who never knew a stranger. Her love for life included gardening, canning, music and dancing, an occasional casino or scratch-off tickets, and most importantly, her family. Her daily visits with her brother and sister formed an inseparable lifetime bond between the three of them.
Sylvia was loved and adored by many, and she will be missed dearly by many.
