Samuel M. Nein, 73, of Ogallala and formerly of Boulder, Colorado, died peacefully December 21, 2016, at Indian Hills Healthcare Community. Sam was born October 20, 1943 in Reading, Pennsylvania to Samuel Dautrich and Anna (McCartan) Nein. He graduated from Stevens Trade school in Philadelphia and went on to attend Hastings College in Hastings, Nebraska on a football and track scholarship. Sam graduated with a degree in Business Admin. There he met the love of his life Karen Jean Bartusiak who also graduated from Hastings with a BS in Medical technology. On July 5, 1963 Sam was united in marriage to Karen at the Hastings College Chapel. Sam and Karen made their home in Nebraska welcoming two children while beginning his real estate career. After moving to Boulder, Colorado in 1969 Sam embarked on a 35 year career in which he excelled in residential, commercial and investment sales and development. Sam was a leader in his profession, achieving the Certified Commercial Investment Member designation in 1988 and serving on many civic and business boards throughout his career. In 2004 Sam and Karen moved back to Nebraska to be closer to family. Sam was a caring and thoughtful man who encouraged, mentored and supported others to achieve and live life to their fullest potential. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, traveling, and spending time with family. Preceding him in death were his parents. Survivors include his wife Karen Nein and a daughter Lisa A. (husband W.Scott) Jeffers, all of Ogallala; one son Samuel B. (wife Danielle) Nein of Tampa, FL.; two sisters Margaret A. Hart and Mary Ann High of Reading, Penn. and six grandchildren: Brittany, Christopher and Johnathan Jeffers; and Avery, Georgia, and Allie Nein. The family chose cremation. A Time of Remembrance of Sam during Sunday Worship service will be held at the First Congregational, United Church of Christ in Ogallala, Nebraska on January 15, 2017 at 10:45 a.m. with Rev. Lisa Hadler conducting the service. All are welcome to attend the service to celebrate with the congregation, or, because family and faith were important to Sam, attend church with your family on this day in remembrance of him.
