Ronald Barnhill, 62, of Ogallala, died Wednesday, May 21, 2014, in the University of Nebraska Medical Center in Omaha. Ron was born September 11, 1951 in Sutherland, Nebr., the son of Ted E. and Edith L. (DeFord) Barnhill. He graduated from Ogallala High School in 1970. Ron was employed with several Ogallala businesses including Armour Sand & Gravel and Holiday Inn. He worked for the Ogallala Public Schools as a custodian for several years. His interests included going to the Ogallala Rodeo, helping run the gate and watching bull riding. Ron was always ready to help when asked and was a volunteer at the Keith County Senior Center, making the morning coffee and doing other chores. He loved going out for cappuccino and visiting with friends. He especially enjoyed being with his son and grandsons and spending time at the Lake. Ron loved to listen to country and western bands. Preceding him in death were his parents and brothers Gary D. Barnhill and Eldon Barnhill. Survivors include a son Brian Barnhill of Kansas and two grandsons: Hunter and Colton Barnhill. Four step-children and several step-grandchildren. Also two brothers: Gene Meredith and Ted L. (wife Marcia) Barnhill, all of Ogallala; and two sisters: Teena (husband Tom) Zezulka of Bellevue and Linda (husband Rick) Weisgerber of Bennington. A sister-in-law Diane Barnhill of Ogallala; Also numerous nieces & nephews and many friends. The family will greet friends during the Visitation on Monday, May 26, from 2 to 4 p.m. at Draucker Funeral Home. The Funeral Service will be Tuesday, May 27, at 10 a.m. in the Ogallala First Baptist Church. Martin Flaming will officiate. Burial is in the Ogallala Cemetery. A memorial has been established to the Keith County Senior Center.
