Robert Temple Obituary Robert 'Bob' Darrell Temple, 83, of Ogallala passed away in his home on Sunday February 25, 2018. Bob was born January 8,1935 in Lewellen to Paul and Gladys (Witteman) Temple. He graduated from Lewellen Rural High School in 1953 and attended the University of Nebraska before spending two years in the U.S. Army stationed in Germany. Bob married Joann 'Jo' Johnson in Carmel, California on February 1, 1959. They lived in Northern California with their four children for several years with brief stops in Laramie, Wyoming and Valentine, Nebraska before moving to Ogallala in 1972. Bob worked as a land surveyor for most of his career, including more than 20 years as the Keith County Surveyor. He served as a troop leader for Boy Scouts and was a member of the Full Gospel Business Men's Fellowship International. Bob served for several months in Gulf Port, Mississippi during Hurricane Katrina's relief efforts as a manager of a warehouse unit. Bob was a man of strong faith in Jesus Christ. His passion for missions led him to Honduras and India. At home, he was especially concerned with those in need of a friend and mentor. He loved to minister to those less fortunate and to those with addictions. Bob spent nearly every Sunday attending church services at Ogallala Indian Hills Manor and visiting with the residents there. Many people have been touched by his kind and generous heart. Bob was a long-time member of the First United Methodist Church where he served as an usher and a Sunday school teacher. Preceding him in death were his parents; his wife; and an infant child Mark. Survivors include his brother Dick Temple of San Lorenzo, CA; his sister Carol Maxson of Ogallala; four children, Rob (Theresa) Temple of Omaha, JD Temple of Delmont SD, Jet (Suzie) Temple of York, and Kathy (Mark) Denning of Sparks NV; six grandchildren, Josh (Meera) Temple, Jonathon Temple, Zach Temple, MacKenzie Denning, Brandi Clement and Jessica Temple; dear friends Beulah and Becky Brooks of Ogallala and many nieces and nephews. A Memorial Service to celebrate Bob's life will be on Sunday March 4th at 2 pm in the Tiger Den in Lewellen. The family chose cremation and a private family committal service will be held at a later date. Condolences may be sent by signing the Guest Book. A memorial is established to Gospel for Asia and The Lewellen Tiger Den. Draucker Funeral Home is entrusted with arrangements.
