Robert (Bob) Boyd Lehn, age 91, of Ogallala, Nebraska, passed away on Wednesday, April 23, 2025, in Sutherland, NE.
Bob was born on August 15, 1933, to Lawrence and Ruth (Seidel) Lehn on the Deuel County Family Farm and graduated from Chappell High School in 1951. He married Marilyn Johnson on June 6, 1954, and they shared countless valuable moments together, including the celebration of their 50th wedding anniversary. Bob and Marilyn enjoyed a beautiful 57 years of marriage.
Bob was drafted into the U.S. Army in July 1957, serving in Korea before being honorably discharged in 1962. After completing his military service, he and Marilyn returned to their family farm in Deuel County, where they raised their three children. Farming was Bob’s lifelong vocation. Bob and Marilyn worked side by side, raising dry land wheat and cattle. They were especially proud to receive the Nebraska Pioneer Farm Award in 1994.
Bob loved the Lord. In 1999, they retired, relocating to Ogallala. Bob and Marilyn joined the New Hope church and found a whole new family. God had plans to use Bob in big ways. His love and hospitality to others were evident in all he did. Whether it was volunteering in the community, spending time with grandchildren, or planning the next event for “The Wise Guys,” Bob had a heart for fellowship and always wanted everyone included. He hosted a bible study in his home at age 90 and enjoyed sharing his mouthwatering desserts. He would search countless recipes, becoming offended if you weren’t willing to quit your new diet to be his taste tester.
Funeral services will be on Tuesday, April 29th, at 10:30 AM at New Hope Church, with Pastor Matt Waitley officiating.
Inurnment for Bob and Marilyn will take place in Chappell Cemetery in Chappell, Nebraska.
Bob is preceded in death by his beloved wife, Marilyn; his parents; his daughter, Debbie; his son, Stephen; and his sister and brother-in-law, Nancy and John Martin.
He is survived by daughter Julie Bruckner and son-in-law Lynn of Ogallala; grandchildren Angie (Paul) Andrews, Andrea Bruckner, and Kacey Bruckner. Evin (Randy) Hunton, Eriksen Todd, Erin Todd, Raine Miller, Rugby Miller, Sky Lee Miller, and Ram (Sherra) Miller; and many great-grandchildren.
A memorial has been established for Nebraska Children’s Home.
