Richard 'Dick' Lindauer

Richard 'Dick' Lindauer, 82, lifetime Brule resident, died Saturday, May 16, 2015, in his home. Dick was born March 26, 1933, in Ogallala, the son of George and Florence (Barnica) Lindauer. He attended country school through the eighth grade. After graduating from Ogallala High School in 1950, Dick attended Colorado A & M (Colorado State University) in Fort Collins, graduating in 1954. Dick served as a jet co-pilot in the Air Force from 1954 to 1957. He returned to the family farming business. On October 12, 1958 Dick was united in marriage to Leta Garrett in Denver, Colo. The couple resided in Ogallala two years before moving to the family farm in 1960. Dick was a member of the First United Methodist Church where he served on many boards and taught Sunday School for several years. He was a Past Worshipful Master of Ogalalla Masonic Lodge AF & AM #159, and was a member of the Big Mac Shrine Club and the Ogallala Chapter of Order of Eastern Star #142. He served many years on the Ogallala-Brule Farmers Co-op Board and was a past member of the Ogallala Hospital Board. Dick served on the District #14 School Board for many years and was a Keith County Commissioner for twelve years. He was a Past Associate Guardian of Jobs Daughters Bethel #21 of Ogallala and was a Past Associate Grand Guardian of Nebraska Job's Daughters in 1980-81. Dick was a member of the VFW, the West Central Nebraska Housing Authority and also served on the West Central Nebr. Development District Board for several years. He served on the Keith County Zoning Board and on the Nebraska Cooperative Lottery Board for many years. Dick always found something good in everybody he knew. He believed in serving his community and taught that to his family members. Preceding him in death were his parents, his son David Leland Lindauer, his brother Donald W. Lindauer and his wife Jo, and many other relatives. Survivors include his wife Leta and his daughter Janean Lindauer, both of Brule; and his son Dana Lindauer of Englewood, Colo. One sister Marilyn (Walt) Goltl of Evergreen, Colo. and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. Visitation will be Thursday, from 9 to 5 and on Friday, from 9 to 6, with family greeting friends on Friday from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. in Draucker Funeral Home. The Funeral Service will be Saturday, May 23, at 10 a.m. in the First United Methodist Church with Rev. Chuck Rager officiating. Masonic Rites will be rendered by the Ogalalla Lodge 159 AF & AM. Interment will follow in the Ogallala Cemetery with military honors by the Keith County Veterans Organizations.
