Raymond Vian

Raymond Vian, 53, of Big Springs and formerly of Ogallala, died Wednesday, March 12, 2014, at his home. Ray was born March 23, 1960, in Eugene, Ore., the son of Delva and Irene (Bersley) Vian. As a child Ray moved to Ogallala with his family. He attended Ogallala Public Schools, was active in the Civil Air Patrol, and graduated in 1979. Ray attended Western Nebr. Technical College in Sidney and in 1980 received a diploma in heavy equipment operations. Ray moved to Oregon and was employed in various jobs. In 1986 he returned to Ogallala where he worked various jobs. He later relocated to Big Springs and was employed as a janitor at the Flying J Truck Stop. Ray was enrolled in South Western Assembly of God University in Waxahachie, Texas and graduated in 2002. He was affiliated with the Big Springs Assembly of God and with the truckers church at the truck stop. His hobbies included traveling and writing. Preceding him in death were his grandparents, his father, and a niece Sharon May. Survivors include his mother Irene Vian of Ogallala, three sisters: Marita Donner of Ogallala, Angeleque and her husband John Untalan of Camarillo, CA., and Susin and her husband Dale Pike of Oshkosh, NE. and a brother Johnny and his wife Chris Vian of Ogallala and a half sister Penny Skow Edgington of Omaha. Also many nieces and nephews. The family chose cremation. A memorial service will be held Tuesday, March 18, at 2 p.m. in Draucker Funeral Home. Rev. Don Owen of the Big Springs Assembly of God will officiate. A memorial has been established in his name.
