Raymond Bang, 86, longtime Ogallala resident, died Saturday, Sept. 5, 2015 in the Ogallala Community Hospital. Ray was born February 10, 1929 in Fremont, the son of Carl and Jeanette (Meier) Bang. Ray attended Fremont schools. On December 14, 1947 he entered the Navy. He returned to Fremont in 1949 and worked with his father as a heavy equipment operator with an asphalt construction company. On July 18, 1950 he was united in marriage to Mila Jean Plummer in Papillion. The couple resided in the Fremont area before settling in Ogallala. Ray served with the Navy Sea Bees in the Aleutian and Philippine Islands and was discharged on May 18, 1951. He then returned to Ogallala and started his own business, Ray's Plumbing. He retired in 2008. On May 30, 1997 Ray married Alvina Collins. The couple made their home in Ogallala. Ray was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church, the Moose Lodge, the Ogallala Elks Lodge, and the VFW. His hobbies included golfing, fishing, hunting, dancing, playing cards, and woodworking. Preceding him in death were his parents, his wife Mila in 1994, and his brother Eugene Bang. Survivors include his wife Alvina Collins-Bang of Ogallala, his children: Randy (Glenda) Bang of Sterling, Colo., Rodney Bang of Sidney, Nikki (Jim) Armbruster of Wauneta, and Ronald (Deb) Bang of North Platte. One brother: Ronald (Carol) Bang of Fremont, two sisters: Nola Jean (Robert) Beck and Carolee Johnson and a sister-in-law Delores Bang, all of Fremont. Seven grandchildren: Doug (Pam) Tillman of Kearney, Kelsey (Brendon) Powers of Shawnee, Kan.; Corey Bang, Chandra (Mike) Stroud, and Kate (Aaron) Edwards, all of North Platte; Tony Samuelson of North Pole, Alaska; and Kaleb Samuelson of Lincoln. Also stepchildren: Robert (Pam) Collins of Ogallala, James (Susan) Collins of Omaha, and Tina (Ron) Miller of Ravenna. Step-grandchildren: Tony (Haley) Collins and Tanner Collins, all of Ft. Worth, Tex., Taylor Collins of Omaha, Joseph Collins of Omaha, and Junior (Lisa) Miller of Kearney. And Eight Great-Grandchildren. Visitation will be Wednesday, Sept. 9, from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. in Draucker Funeral Home. The Funeral Service will be Thursday, Sept. 10, at 10 a.m. in St. Pauls Lutheran Church with Rev. John Stubenrouch officiating.
