Ralph E. "Geno" Meredith

Ralph E. "Geno" Meredith, 71, longtime Ogallala resident, died Saturday, July 12, 2014, in the Ogallala Community Hospital. Geno was born February 28, 1943, in Ogallala, the son of Ralph and Edithora (DeFord) Meredith. He attended schools in Ogallala, North Platte, and Brule and in Cheyenne, Wyo. Geno then returned to Ogallala and worked various jobs. His interests included singing country music, making a record which included "Kansas City" and "I Found Love When I Found You." Geno was a member of the Lions Club and he especially enjoyed watching the sport of rodeo. Preceding him in death was his mother, his step-father Ted E. Barnhill, and three brothers: Gary Barnhill, Eldon Barnhill, and Ron Barnhill. Survivors include his father Ralph Meredith of North Platte; his son Jerome Meredith of Sterling, Colo.; two sisters: Teena (Tom) Zezulka of Bellevue and Linda (Rick) Weisgerber of Bennington; two brothers: Ted (Marcia) Barnhill of Ogallala and Tom Meredith of North Platte; and a sister-in-law Diane Barnhill of Ogallala. Also several aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews. Visitation will be Monday, July 14, from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. in Draucker Funeral Home. The Funeral Service will be Tuesday, July 15, at 10 a.m. from the Draucker Funeral Home with Rev. John Howe of the Light House Baptist Church officiating. Interment is in the Ogallala Cemetery. Memorials have been established to the Keith County Senior Center and the Indian Hills Manor Residents Fund.
