Victor “Pete” Wayne Yauk, age 78 died Monday, December 30, 2024, at Great Plains Health in North Platte, NE.
Pete was born May 25, 1946, in Woodward, OK to Otto and Mary (Malone) Yauk. He attended school in Fort Supply, OK, and graduated high school in 1964.
He went on to enlist in the United States Marine Corps. on December 29, 1965, where he trained in San Diego, CA., he went on to be stationed in Okinawa, Japan as an MP. Pete was deployed in July 1966 to Vietnam until September 1967, he then returned to Okinawa and was honorably discharged on February 24, 1969.
When Pete returned to Fort Supply, OK where he drove a livestock truck until 1971 when he went to work as a Lineman for Northwestern Electric Cooperative in Woodard, OK. In 1988 he moved to Hebron, NE, and worked for NPPD. In 1992 he moved to Paxton, NE where he worked for Midwest Electric until 2009.
Pete is survived by his sons Braden (Jessica) Yauk of Waterloo, IA, Colton (Angela) Yauk of Madisonville, KY, Victor Yauk of Biloxi, MS, Jason (Tia) Vasquez of Cleveland, OH, Lew (JoAnn) Vasquez of Paxton, NE, and Justin (Jaime) Vasquez of Topeka, KS; Brother Don (Jan) Yauk and 15 grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his wife Rhonda; his parents and sister Betty Jo.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, January 4, 2025, at 2:30 P.M. at the United Methodist Church in Paxton, NE, and will be officiated by Pastor Mark Baldwin.
Inurnment will be at the Paxton Cemetery with military honors by Paxton American Legion Post 303 of Paxton, NE.
A memorial has been established in Pete’s memory to the Paxton American Legion Post 303.
