Mildred “Millie” Kathileen (Eastwood) Leach, 84, born January 24, 1941 passed away, September 2, 2025 at Great Plains Health in North Platte.

Millie was born to Lawrence and Kathileen (Lindsay) Eastwood in Stapleton NE where she moved several times as a child and later making her home Brule, NE where she met Russell Leach and they married on August 24, 1958 marking their 67th anniversary this year.

Millie started her education in Julesburg, Co. and then finished her education in the Venango and Brule area. Millie and Russell started their married life at the McGinley-Schilz feedlot south of Brule, then moved onto Henry Anderson farm near Paxton and later worked for Lawler Farm & Ranch south of Paxton. In 1966, Millie and Russell moved to Ogallala where Russell started a new career and Millie remained the keeper of the house.

Millie worked a couple stints at TRW Capacitors in Ogallala early in their married life. Millie started working later in life as a Childcare teacher at The Church of Christ Daycare and ended her career at Kids Zone. She loved rocking the babies and left a great impression on their little lives.

Millie loved to volunteer. She volunteered for the Pink Ladies, RSVP, MOPS and the Ogallala Regional Arts Council. She also served as a Sunday school teacher, Vacation Bible School teacher and helped in the nursery, kitchen and cleaning at the church. Millie was a member of the New Hope church (formerly known as the Berean Church) for over 60 years. Many hours were served in the church setting. Millie was a wonderful servant of God.

Survivors include her husband of 67 years Russell Leach of Ogallala, daughters Melanie Towell of Ogallala and Deb, (Steve) Demilt of Ogallala. One son – Chad Leach, (Molly Clark) of Kearney Nebraska. Brother, Willie (Mary Pat) Eastwood of Greeley, Colorado and several nieces, nephews, and other relatives. Grandchildren: Brooke Burton of Ogallala, Erica, (Ben) Berry of Fayetteville, Arkansas, Mallory Demilt of Brule, Cami, (Aaron) Spong of Firestone, Colorado, Travis, (Kelli) Demilt of Keystone Nebraska and Nathan, (Kameryn) Towell of Moorcroft, Wyoming. Great grandchildren: Kyarrah Burton, Beckett, Nova and little boy (due in October) Berry, Amelia Demilt, Kendall and Kolby Spong, Josi and Cayzan Demilt, Max, Jovi and Jasper Towell.

Preceded in death; her parents, her brothers: Buddy, Francis (Babe) and Donnie Eastwood, great grandchildren - Abel Spong and Milo Berry.

A memorial has been established with donations given to the Ogallala Regional Arts council or the donor’s choice.

Memorial services for Millie will be Saturday, September 27, 2025 at 10AM at New Hope Church in Ogallala with Pastor Matt Waitley officiating.
