Melvin W. Dunn, 79, of Roscoe, died Tuesday, October 7, 2014, in his home. Melvin Walter Dunn was born June 9, 1935, in Elizabeth, Colo., the son of Ernest and Ethel (Peterson) Dunn. He attended public schools in Cheyenne Wells, Colorado, graduating in 1953. He moved to Ogallala and began employment with Oltman Motors. Melvin met Carol Davison and they were married on May 29, 1954. The couple resided in Ogallala until 1979 when they moved to Roscoe. He worked for several businesses including Fuller Motors. In 1975 he began employment as a parts manager for Nebr. Public Power District. He retired in 1997. His hobbies included arrowhead hunting, hiking, and car restoration. Melvin especially enjoyed spending time with his grandkids. Preceding him in death were his parents, brother Bradley, two sisters: Ernestine Byers and Dorothy Carter, and son-in-law Don Apolius. Survivors include his wife Carol Dunn of Paxton, three daughters: Beth (Lonne) Hansmeier, Laura (Luis) Rivas, and Shiela Apolius, all of Ogallala; one son Melvin Jr. (Barb) Dunn of St, Francis, Kan.; one sister Christine (Danny) Krentz of Bridgeport; and two brothers: Ernie (Elaine) Dunn of Denver, Colo. and Dave (Jo) Dunn of Cotopaxi, Colo. Also 14 grandchildren: Martin (Neva) Rivas, Eric (Jamie) Rivas, Josh (Megan) Apolius, Jamie Apolius, Nicholas Rivas, and Sarah Rivas, all of Ogallala; Jeromy (Rene) Rivas of Sterling, Colo., Zac (Nicki) Fornander of Sidney, Dustin (Amber) Dunn of Wray, Colo., and Leon (Amanda) Hansmeier of Lincoln; Amber (Ty) Faulkender and Mandy Hovis, all of St. Francis, Kan., Molly (Kent) Koehn of Gothenburg, and Kelsey Dunn of Abilene,Texas. And 24 great-grandchildren. The family chose cremation. There will be private family services held at a later date Attachments area
