Mary Ruth Fowler, 96, of Ogallala, died September 22, 2013, in Golden Ours Convalescent Home in Grant. Mary Ruth was born November 9, 1916, in Warrington, Indiana, the daughter of William and Lena (Overman) Albea. After graduating from Indiana Central College she taught high school and middle school vocal music and English in Indianapolis. She was united in marriage to David S. Fowler in 1938 and the couple resided in Indianapolis. She retired in 1979 as Assistant Dean of Girls, Warren Central High School, the same school her three boys attended. Mary Ruth was a member of the Church at the Crossing in Indianapolis and served as a Christian Living Sunday School teacher for 17 years. She directed Senior Adult Fellowship for twenty years and was active in member visitation. Because of failing eyesight Mary Ruth sold her home in 2006 and moved to Nebraska to live with her son David and his wife Gloria. In August 2012 Mary Ruth moved to the Golden Ours Convalescent Home. Her hobbies included reading, music, knitting, and sewing. Preceding her in death were her parents, husband, sister Bernice Taylor, and great-granddaughter Katelyn Rowley. Survivors include three sons: David (Gloria) Fowler of Ogallala, Milton (Jan) Fowler of Randolph, VT, and Wendell (Sandy) Fowler of Indianapolis, IN; a sister Anna Faye Dawson of Little Rock, AR; Eleven grandchildren including Pamela (Tim) Rowley of Grant; Eric Fowler of Lincoln; Traci (Craig) Draucker of Ogallala; Christopher Einspahr of Houston, TX; and Michael (Kristina) Einspahr of Kearney. Also nine great-grandchildren. Mary Ruth chose cremation and the family is planning a memorial tribute during the 9 a.m. worship service on Sept. 29 at First United Methodist Church. A private family service will be held at a later date. A memorial has been established in her name.
