Mark C. McQueen, 53, of Omaha and formerly of Ogallala, went to be with his Savior Jesus Christ on Thursday, June 2, 2016. Mark was born to Carl Clinton and Sondra(Brooks) McQueen in Ogallala, on August 7, 1962. Mark was blessed with a great sense of humor, loved to laugh and listen to music. He loved generously and patiently, especially with family. He worked successfully, diligently and patiently to overcome his physical limitations and had an incredible memory for dates of events. His love of and indulgence in Pepsi and hot dogs created a good way to tease him. Playing Bocce ball with his friends and computer time were newer hobbies. His early education was at ESU #16 in Ogallala, followed by training at Anne Carlson School in Jamestown, North Dakota from 1979 to 1982. In 1999 he moved to Omaha and resided at Quality Living. Since 2006, he lived independently and negotiated around Omaha. He participated in swimming, softball toss and walking in Special Olympics and attended Easter Seals Summer Camp. He volunteered and participated in other service and support organizations, including the League of Human Dignity. He was employed at Myers Rehabilitation Institute for a period of time. Mark was an inspiration and a joy to many and will be missed by his many friends and family. He was preceded in death by his father, Carl Clinton McQueen; step-father Douglas J. Sharkey and grandparents, Carl and Vivian McQueen; Floyd Brooks; and Donald and Helen Peterson and Uncles Marvin Suhr and Terry Davis. Mark is survived by his mother, Sondra Sharkey of Ogallala and her special friend Gerry Packard; special caring friends Elena Snay and Geri Dunn; Aunts: Iola (Jerry) Florer and Sharyl (Dennis) Pankonin, all of Ogallala; Deborah (Lynn) McCaig of Paxton; and Jan Davis, of Gretna; Uncles: Brad (Sheryl) Brooks of Lamars, IA and Brian Brooks of Ogallala.
