Lois Vath, 81, of Big Springs and formerly of Keystone, died in her home November 7, 2013. Lois was born February 2, 1932 in Arcadia, Nebr., the daughter of William B.S. and Mabel (Tockey) Hill. Lois graduated from Arthur High School in 1949 and also received Normal Training. She taught school in rural Keith County first at Jensen School and later at Vath School. On May 21, 1952 Lois was united in marriage to Leslie J. Vath. The couple made their home in Arthur. Lois was employed as a line worker and supervisor at TRW for twenty five years. She moved from Big Springs to Keystone. Lois was then employed in the Lemoyne office of the Keystone-Arthur Telephone Co., retiring in 2012. She returned to Big Springs in April, 2012. She attended St. Lukes Catholic Church. Her hobbies included knitting and reading. Preceding her in death was her husband Leslie in January 1980, her parents, two brothers Charles and William, two sisters Martha Gies and Mabel Statler, and one great-granddaughter Alishia Hackbart. Survivors include her children: Wm. Eric (Catherine) Vath of Lincoln; Christina Hill of Crook, Colo.; James (Dolly) Vath of Big Springs; and Julia (Michael) Everitt of Torrington, Wyo. Also ten grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren. Visitation will be Monday, Nov. 11, from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. at Draucker Funeral Home. Mass of Christian Burial will be Tuesday, Nov. 12 at 10 a.m. in St. Lukes Catholic Church with Rev. Bryan Ernest the Celebrant. Interment is in the Big Springs Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials have been established to St. Lukes Catholic Church and the Big Springs Volunteer Fire Dept.
