Laverne Frosh

LaVerne Frosh, 89, of North Platte and formerly of Ogallala, died Sunday, April 14, 2013, at Centennial Park Retirement Village in North Platte. LaVerne Henry Frosh was born March 10, 1924 in Davenport, Nebraska, the son of John E. and Wilhemina F. (Getz) Frosh. At the age of six he moved with his family to Paxton. He received elementary education at Roscoe District #15 through the tenth grade. He graduated from Ogallala High School in 1942. In 1944 LaVerne entered the Army and served in World War II. After being discharged in June 1946, he returned to the family farm. On August 24, 1947 LaVerne married Evelyn Gordon in Ogallala. The couple resided and farmed in Keith County near Paxton. LaVerne also owned and operated a dairy business for many years, retiring in 2005. The couple continued to live on their farm until moving to North Platte in February 2012. He was a member of St. Pauls Lutheran Church. His hobbies included bowling, dancing, traveling, and taking care of his precious Bichon dog, Zjock. Preceding him in death were his parents, brother Elma Frosh, a sister Gerline Maynard; two grandsons: Tony Frosh and Scott Frosh; and a great-granddaughter Shayla Scofield. Daughter-in-law Patricia Frosh. Also brothers-in-law: Kenneth Malmkar, Walter Maynard, John Gordon, and Darrell Gordon. Sisters-in-law: Roberta Frosh, Naomi Mailand, and Aileen Lindenmuth. Survivors include his wife Evelyn Frosh of North Platte, and three sons: Gary L. (Connie) Frosh of Paxton, Rodger L. (Cheri) Frosh of Ogallala, and Randy L. (Cheryl) Frosh of Fort Collins, Colo. Also five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. The visitation will be Wednesday, April 17, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Draucker Funeral Home, with the family greeting friends from 3 to 5 p.m. The Funeral Service will be Thursday, April 18, at 10 a.m. in St. Pauls Lutheran Church with Rev. John Stubenrouch officiating. Interment is in the Ogallala Cemetery with military honors by the Keith County Veterans Organization. Memorials have been established to St. Pauls Lutheran Church and the Perkins County Animal Shelter.
