Kerry William Kemper

Kerry, beloved dad, and Papa passed away peacefully on Wednesday, August 5th, 2026, at the age of 75. Born in Julesburg, CO, on July 14, 1951, to Orville and Phyllis Kemper, he lived a life defined by an independent spirit, quiet dedication, genuine curiosity, and a love for the people around his table.

He built a career as a survey instrument technician, a craft he approached with the precision and pride of a true artisan. To those who knew his work, he was the kind of man who didn't just fix things — he restored them, because he truly loved his work.

At home, his kitchen was his second workshop. Whether he was perfecting a familiar recipe or chasing down an ingredient he'd never tried before, cooking was his passion. He had a gift for turning a meal into a memory. He was a lover of music and had a special affinity for George Harrison, classic rock and any band that had a good true base singer. He enjoyed fast cars and motorcycles, always on the lookout for something unique with lots of power. He was strong in his convictions, an avid supporter of the 2nd Amendment and the Constitution.

He loved his children, but nothing lit him up quite like his grandchildren. As Papa, he was proud of their accomplishments and looked forward to hearing about their next adventures. He leaves behind a family who will carry his spirit while cooking, listening to music or going for a drive.

He is survived by Andrew (Brooks) Kemper of Arvada, CO, Alison (Brian) Armstrong of Brule, NE, and Ian (Laila) Kemper of Portland, OR; grandchildren Nathan (Hannah) Deems, Tyler Deems, Dylan Kemper and Taryn Kemper; 5 step-grandchildren; Sisters Judy (Doug) Whitten and Kristee (Brad) Mollendor, two nieces and two nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, sister Kimberlee (Stan) Munson and nephew Tanner Mollendor.

A celebration of life will be held on a later date at Julesburg, CO Cemetery with luncheon to follow at the Armstrong Farm in Brule, NE. In lieu of flowers, the family welcomes donations and or a  memorial donation of your preference.
