Kathleen "Kathy"  D. Vinton, age 73, of Hyannis, NE, passed away on Wednesday, April 2, 2025, at CHI Health St. Elizabeth in Lincoln,

NE..

Kathy was born on March 2, 1952, to Harold and Francis “Nana” (Ayers) Williams in Kansas City, MO. She graduated from Oak Park High School in Kansas City in 1970 and worked for Hallmark Cards.

In 1972, Kathy moved to the Rosebud Reservation to work as a Para Educator, and in 1973, she relocated to Alliance, NE, to attend nursing school, graduating in 1975. After graduation, she worked at Children’s Hospital in Omaha, NE, where she earned her LPN accreditation. She then worked at Good Samaritan Nursing Home in Alliance, NE. While living back in Alliance, Kathy met John “Hop” Vinton IV, and the two were married on May 22, 1976, at The Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Alliance, NE. They made their home on the Vinton family ranch, south of Whitman.

Cherished by all her grandchildren, she was affectionately called Nana-a name she wore with immense pride and love, one of the most treasured titles of her life.

Kathy is preceded in death by her parents.

She is survived by her husband, Hop Vinton; her two sons, Matthew (Stephanie) Vinton of Arvada, CO, and Mark (Elisa) Vinton of Hyannis, NE; sisters Bonnie Brandon of Gatesville, TX, Mary (Kenny) Bingham of Kansas City, MO, and Shelly (Dennis) Harper of Richmond, MO; five granddaughters, Evelyn, Paige, Helena, Natalie, and Sarah Vinton; and two grandsons, Elliot and John H. Vinton V.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, April 10, 2025, from 1:00 pm to 5:00 pm, with family greeting friends at Shepherd of the Hills Lutheran Church in Hyannis, NE.

Funeral services will be on Friday, April 11, 2025, at 2:00 pm at Hyannis High School Auditorium, with Rev. Jon Oetting of The Shepherd of the Hills Lutheran Church of Hyannis, NE, officiating.

Interment will follow in the Hyannis Cemetery in Hyannis, NE.

A memorial has been established in Kathy's name to Shepherd of the hills Lutheran Church 609 NE-61, Hyannis, NE 69350.
