Joanne Ervin Obituary Joanne M. Ervin, age 94, of Brule, passed away, Wednesday, October 14, 2020 at the Indian Hills Manor in Ogallala. Joanne was born in Cheyenne, WY on November 30, 1925 to Robert S. Hillyer and Gertrude (Nelson) Hillyer. Joanne graduated from Ogallala High School in 1943. She was united in marriage to August Duane 'Swede' Ervin August 23, 1944, making their home north of Brule. To this union 3 children were born, Christie, Susan and John. Joanne worked as the Keith County Extension Office secretary for 17 years, and then worked for Quick Electric. In addition to her employment, Joanne's 'favorite job' was her volunteer work at the Congregational Church Jumble Shop. She was a 75 year member of the Congregational Church and the PEO. Joanne is survived by her husband August Duane 'Swede' Ervin, of Brule; her children: Christie Hanson (Lyle), of Cheyenne WY; Susan Ervin, of Oklahoma City OK; John (Joan) Ervin, of Brule; grandchildren; Brenda (Brett) Nunemann, of Arvada, CO; Chad (Tara) Newport, of North Platte, NE; Jason Ervin, of Austin, TX; Rick (Julie) Metcalf, of McCook, NE; Christopher (Susan) Espinoza, of Oklahoma City, OK; Colleen Ervin (Robert Cheeseman); Brian (Rachel) Ervin, of Ogallala; Matt Ervin, of Brule, NE; 11 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother in infancy. The family chose cremation. No services are scheduled at this time.
