James Bestol, 71, longtime Hyannis resident, died Saturday, April 19, 2014, in the Good Samaritan Society of Alliance. Jim was born March 30, 1943, in Long Beach, Cal., the son of Arthur and Alice (Bayliff) Bestol. He received his early education in Long Beach. He moved with his family to Hyannis, Nebr. in 1957. After graduating from Hyannis High School in 1961 Jim moved to Los Angeles, Cal. and was employed with the Pillsbury company. In 1963 he returned to Hyannis and worked various jobs. On August 30, 1963 Jim married Jeroin Lee Murer in Scottsbluff. The couple made their home in Hyannis. In the late 1970's Jim began employment with Burlington Northern Railroad. He retired in 1999. His hobbies included hunting and watching football games. Preceding him in death were his parents and a sister Sharon Jackson. Survivors include his wife Jeroin Bestol of Hyannis, his children: Billy (LaNita) Bestol; of Alliance, Walter Bestol of Kimberly, Wis., and Kevin (Wendy) Bestol of Hyannis, and a brother Doug (Cindy) Bestol of Okeechobee, Flor.; Step-mother Alene Bestol of Hyannis; brother-in-law Wally Jackson of Huntsville, Tex.; and nine grandchildren. The family chose cremation. Memorial Graveside Services will be Saturday, April 26, at 2 p.m. in the Hyannis Cemetery. Pastor Roy Monahan of the Hyannis Church of the Sandhills will officiate. A memorial has been established in his memory.
