Irline Barnica, 96, of Kearney and formerly of Ogallala, died Sunday, September 29, 2013 at Mother of Hull Nursing Home in Kearney. Irline Emma Barnica was born March 21, 1917 in Hayes Center, Nebraska, the daughter of Benjamin and Minnie (French) Dillon. She spent her early years on a farm northeast of Hayes Center and attended schools there. Irline met Norman Barnica in Wauneta, Nebr. at a church conference. They were married August 3, 1953 in Wauneta. They moved northwest of Ogallala and in 1954 moved into Ogallala. Irline worked for TRW from 1953 to 1981 when she retired. Her hobbies included reading her Bible and caring for her pets. Irline was an animal lover and always had pets. Religion was an important part of her life and she was a devout Christian. Preceding her in death were her parents, husband Norman, three sisters: Pearl Mammen, Grace Robb, and Clara Carkins; two brothers: Walter Dillon and Ben Dillon; and one grandson Jeremy Gamble. Survivors include two daughters: Kathy and her husband Jeff Hoffman of Kearney and Rose Gamble of Ogallala; one granddaughter and two great-grandsons. Cremation was chosen according to Irline's wishes. There will be no services.
