Harlon R. Hahn, 74, of Paxton, died peacefully at his home on Friday, September 25, 2015. Harlon was born June 23, 1941 in Sutherland, the son of Raymond and Anna (Reitz) Hahn. He grew up on the Hahn family farm south of Paxton and attended country grade schools. He attended high school at the University of Nebraska School of Agriculture at Curtis, NE, graduating in 1959. After graduating from high school he worked on the family farm and later on a survey crew for the State of Nebraska surveying the Interstate 80 system. Harlon joined the Nebraska National Guard in 1963 serving until 1969. He had lifelong friendships with high school classmates and members of the Nebraska National Guard. On March 19, 1967 Harlon was united in marriage to Barbara Erthum at the Lutheran Church in Paxton. The couple resided on the family farm south of Paxton and were blessed with two sons, Mark and Brent. Harlon continued to farm until his death. He was a member of the New Life Lutheran Church in Paxton and a member of the Ogallala Elks Lodge. He was an avid hunter and fisherman and shared his love for the outdoors with his children and grandchildren. He enjoyed leather work, wood working, riding motorcycles, driving his jeep, and working in the garden. His pride and joy were his granddaughters. Preceding him in death were his parents and son Brent Hahn in 1991. Survivors include his wife Barbara, son Mark (Brenda) Hahn, all of Paxton; brother Russell Hahn of Groton, New York; and two granddaughters: Taylor Hahn of Lincoln and Brylie Hahn of Paxton, and a niece and several nephews. The family chose cremation. Friends may sign the Register Book on Thursday, October 1, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. in Draucker Funeral Home. The Memorial Service will be Friday, October 2, at 2 p.m. in the Ogallala New Hope Church with Rev. Eric Wait officiating. The Service will be streamed live and may be seen by clicking on the Watch Live tab above. Private Inurnment will take place at a later date.
