Gwynneth E. Stumpenhorst

Gwynneth E. Stumpenhorst, 89, of Ogallala, died Saturday, January 16, 2016, at Indian Hills Healthcare Community. She was born December 24, 1926, in Boone, IA., the daughter of M.J. and Ferne (Richards) Heldt. Gwynn lived in Ogden, Iowa until 1943 when her family moved to Boone, Iowa. After graduating from high school in 1944 she attended Coe College in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. She worked for her father in the Boone County Tax Service. On May 18, 1947 Gwynn married Charles E. Stumpenhorst and they farmed until 1953. They moved to Lakewood, Colo. and Gwynn worked for the Kemp Shoe Co., Redfield Gunsights Co., WPM Corp., and then Master Conveyor Corp. as Purchasing Manager. In 1989 she retired and they moved to their summer home near Lake McConaughy in Keith County, Nebraska. She was a member of the Brule St. Johns Lutheran Church. Her hobbies included camping, boating and fishing. She enjoyed playing cards with friends. Preceding her in death was her husband Charles in August, 2014, her parents, and sisters-in-law Vera Youngren and Ruth Stumpenhorst. Survivors include her brother Edmund (Val) Heldt of Boone, Iowa, one sister-in-law Eldora (John) Heineman and brother-in-law Dean Youngren, all of Ogden, Iowa; and brother-in-law Marvin Stumpenhorst of Boone, Iowa. Also many nieces, nephews, and friends. Her wishes were to be cremated. Memorial Graveside Services will be Friday, April 22, at 11 a.m. Central Time at Fort McPherson National Cemetery near Maxwell. Rev. Jon Dickmander of Brule St. Johns Lutheran Church will officiate. A memorial has been established to St. Johns Lutheran Church. Online Condolences may be sent todrauckerfuneralhome.com.
