Grant Peterson (76) of Grant, Nebraska, passed away at Great Plains Health in North Platte, NE, on Monday, June 1, 2026. Grant was a life-long resident of Perkins County, born February 24,1950, to Eldon A. & Suzanne S. Peterson.
Grant attended Sawyer District 45 rural school through the 8th grade & graduated from PCHS with the class of 1968. After graduation he attended Mid Plains Vocational College in North Platte, NE, earning a degree in Drafting & Design.
Grant settled back at the family farm & resided there until his passing. He is survived by his siblings: Pamela A. Jacobson (Jeff) of Lincoln; Deborah K. Nelson of Salt Lake City, UT; Miles A. Peterson (Rita) of Alva, OK; & Elliott J. Peterson (Angela) of Grant, NE. He is also survived by nieces & nephews: Jessica and Sim Jacobson of Lincoln, NE., TJ, and Kathryn, and Anni Nelson all of Salt Lake City, UT. Grant, Grady, and Guy Peterson of Clinton, OK, Loveland, CO, and Alva, OK, respectively; and Storm & Jet Peterson of Grant, NE.
Grant was also remembered as GW, Punk, and Uncle Bunks, was a kind and thoughtful man with a huge heart. He loved his family unconditionally, and always appreciated any kindness shown to him. He rose with the sun, worked with his hands, cared for his animals with a gentle heart, and left this world better than he found it.
As the combine makes its final pass, and the tractor rests quietly in the Quonset, may the amber waves of grain beneath the Nebraska sky stand as a lasting tribute to a life defined by hard work, kindness, and a deep love for the land. May his gentle spirit live on in every sunrise & every harvest across the fields he so deeply loved.
