Glen H. Brown, 87, longtime Ogallala resident, died Friday, December 19, 2014, at Indian Hills Healthcare Community. Glen was born December 29, 1926, in Ogallala, the son of Dewey and Isa Marie (McVay) Brown. He attended Ogallala schools. He entered the Merchant Marines in 1944. After discharge in 1945 he returned to Ogallala. On January 22, 1946 Glen was united in marriage to Celia Maxine Railsback in Norton, Kansas. The couple resided in Ogallala. In 1957 Glen started working at his Dad's pool hall, besides driving truck for a cattle company. Later, he was employed with a custom wheat harvest crew, traveling across the country. Glen continued to operate the pool hall until 1975. He then was employed with TRW, retiring in 1990. His hobbies included bowling, fishing, hunting, golfing, and blue rock shooting. Glen enjoyed watching sports on television and played baseball in his younger years. After he retired, he especially liked going to casinos. He was a member of the Ogallala Elks Club where he bartended and helped with the janitorial duties. Preceding him in death was an infant daughter Laurie Ann, a sister Verna Mae Mell, two brothers Howard and Edward, daughter-in-law Vyla Brown, and grandson Justin Brown. Survivors include his wife Maxine Brown, daughter Debbie (John) Foust, four sons Mark (Millie) Brown, Richard (Susan) Brown, and David Brown, all of Ogallala and Rick (Kathy) Brown of Cape Girardeau, Missouri. One sister Helen Stone of Wylie, Tex., Also twenty grandchildren, 31 great-grandchildren, and four great-great-grandchildren. Visitation will be Monday, Dec. 22 , from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. in Draucker Funeral Home. The funeral service will be Tuesday, Dec. 23, at 10 a.m. in New Hope Church with Rev. Eric Wait officiating. A memorial has been established in his name. Interment is in the Ogallala Cemetery with military honors by the Keith County Veterans Organization.
