Glen E. Bassett, 64, of Ogallala, died Tuesday, September 23, 2014, in the Ogallala Community Hospital. Glen Edward Bassett was born September 20, 1950, in Pittsfield, MA, the son of Albert and Phyllis (Knox) Bassett. After graduating from Pittsfield High School in 1968 Glen attended Clarkson College in Potsdam, NY. He then transferred to Syracuse University of New York and earned a Master's Degree in electrical engineering. Glen was active in the Army Reserves before enlisting as a Private in the Army in 1972. He served in many countries throughout the world, retiring in 2006 as a Lieutenant Colonel. In 2007 Glen moved to Ogallala to pursue his hobbies of hunting and fishing. He especially enjoyed small town living. Preceding him in death was his father and a brother Michael Bassett. Survivors include his mother Phyllis Bassett and his sister Mary Ann Bassett, both of Denver and his brother David (Manira) Bassett of Tolland, CT. The family chose cremation. Memorial Services in Franktown, CO and inurnment at Fort Logan National Cemetery will both be scheduled at a later date. A memorial has been established to the Nebraska Game & Parks Foundation.
