George A. Stewart, 95, of Ogallala, died Sunday, Aug. 30, 2015 at Indian Hills Healthcare Community. George Amri Stewart was born May 27, 1920 at Alliance, NE, the son of Joseph and May (Bullock) Stewart. He attended school in Holliday, Kansas. George entered the Army on August 28, 1941 and served in the Pacific Theater. He was discharged on October 15, 1945. George was united in marriage to Eva Starks at Fort Morgan, CO, in 1951. The couple resided in Denver until 1976. George was employed by IML Trucking where he hauled freight. The Stewarts purchased a house in the Lakeview area of Lake McConaughy in 1955, and used it as a summer home. They retired and moved to their Lake home in 1976. George became a resident of Indian Hills Manor in 2009. George belonged to the Masonic Lodge of Quitman, TX, the Scottish Rite, and is a former member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and the American Legion. Preceding him in death were his parents and his wife Eva in 1983. Survivors include his nephew David Newbold and his niece Virginia Newbold, both of Cheyenne, WY and his nephew Chuck and (Serena) Newbold of Westminster, CO. Also several great nieces and great nephews. Friends may sign the Register Book on Thursday, September 3, 2015, from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. and on Friday, September 4, 2015, from 9:00 a.m. until the time of Funeral Service at 10:00 a.m. in the Draucker Funeral Home. Rev. Chuck Rager of the Ogallala First United Methodist Church will officiate.
