Gary Knaub

Gary Knaub, 72, longtime Ogallala resident, died Sunday, November 3, 2013, in the Ogallala Community Hospital. Gary was born February 26, 1941 in Scottsbluff, Nebr., the son of Jacob and Helen (Eurich) Knaub. He attended elementary school in Scottsbluff, graduating from High School in 1959. He then attended college in Scottsbluff. On August 25, 1960 he was united in marriage to Marilynn Jane Scott. The couple resided in Scottsbluff, moving to Ogallala in 1962. Other residencies included York, Nebr. and Charles City, Iowa. In the mid 1970's they relocated to Ogallala. Gary retired from car sales in 2010. His hobbies included golf, racquet ball and hand ball. He enjoyed watching Husker football games and pheasant hunting. Preceding him in death were his parents, his son Spencer "Duke" Knaub in 2010, four brothers: Kenny, Don, Dean, and Chuck; and a sister Donna Anderson. Survivors include his wife Marilynn Knaub, his son Scott Knaub and his wife Mary, his daughter Shelly Knaub, all of Ogallala; and one brother Tom Knaub and his wife Laurel of Aurora, Colo. Also two sisters-in-law Susan Schilz and Ruth Knaub, both of Ogallala and a brother-in-law Andy Anderson of Connecticut. Also eight grandchildren: Ashley Welsh and Alex Knaub, both of Greeley, Colo.; Addison Welsh of Fort Collins, Colo.; Audrey Welsh of Littleton, Colo.; Tyler Knaub of Las Vegas, Nev.; Whitney Knaub of Bozeman, Mont.; Sherry Duke of Gering; and Barry Melvin of Scottsbluff and four great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. The family chose cremation. There will be no visitation. A memorial service will be Friday, Nov. 8, at 1:30 p.m. in New Hope Church with Rev. David Gill officiating. A memorial has been established in his name.
