Fay Pahl, 93, formerly of Ogallala, died Wednesday, September 17, 2014, at Linden Court in North Platte. Fay Ernestine Pahl was born May 9, 1921, in Pawhuska, OK, the daughter of Irvin and Edith (Creager) Linton. In 1924 the family moved to Hepler, KS where Fay graduated from high school in 1939. Fay moved to Greenbush, Kansas and in 1946 moved to Greeley, Colo. She moved to Denver, CO. and worked for the Barrel Restaurant. On October 11, 1957 Fay married Hans Pahl in Julesburg, CO. The next move was to Ogallala in 1958. The couple owned and operated the Tastee Freez. Fay was employed at Lee's Dime Store and Blair Rest Home for a short time and for Goodalls and TRW Capacitors from 1958 until retiring in 1983. She was active volunteering at the Hospital, Girl Scouts, Chamber office, tourist information booth, and the Keith County Senior Citizens Center. Fay learned embroidery at the age of five and taught the skill to her children and grandchildren. She enjoyed playing bingo with the residents at Indian Hills Manor and helping display the quilts at the Keith County Fair. Fay was a life member of the VFW Auxiliary and was a member of St. Pauls Lutheran Church. Preceding her in death was her husband, daughter Patricia Randall, two brothers: Don Linton and Leroy Linton; and a grandson Bill Randall. Survivors include a daughter Frances and husband Louis Schimonitz of North Platte; two sisters: Doris Gooding of Los Lunas, NM, and Mildred Johnson of Wichita, KN. Nine grandchildren, twenty-five great-grandchildren and eight great-great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Visitation will be Sunday, September 21, from 4 to 6 p.m. in Draucker Funeral Home. The Funeral Service will be Monday, September 22, at 10 a.m. in St. Pauls Lutheran Church in Ogallala with Rev. John Stubenrouch officiating. Burial is in the Ogallala Cemetery. A memorial has been established in her name.
