Eugene 'Gene' Sanders Obituary Eugene 'Gene' Sanders, age 88, of Ogallala, Nebraska, passed away on Wednesday, May 29, 2019 at the Ogallala Community Hospital in Ogallala. Eugene was born July 22, 1930 in Dalton, Nebraska to Leslie and Pearl (Jacobsen) Sanders. Gene was the youngest of 11 kids. He grew up and loved the farm life, as he spent 81 years of his life farming. In 1950, Gene married Evangeline 'Vannie' Reed, and to this union they brought their 3 children into the world, Debbie, Philip and Joel. This union ended in February 1971, when Vannie passed away. His primary occupation was farming, but he also had a successful business as a Factory Distributor for Kirby Vacuum. Gene enjoyed hunting and fishing, but his favorite hobby was going to auctions and finding treasures. He is preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, Evangeline; his second wife, Martha; brothers, Vernon 'Buster', Earl, Grover, and Jack; and sisters, Leona, Viola, Fern, Ruby, Annie, and Margie. Gene is survived by 1 daughter, Debra (Roger) Hamilton, of Gallatin, TN; 2 sons, Philip (Sandra) Sanders, of Potter, NE; and Joel (Debra) Sanders, of Ogallala; 4 grandchildren, Joshua Hamilton; Sara (Kevin) Morse; Nicholas Sanders; Alyssa Sanders; and 4 great-grandchildren. The family chose cremation. A private family interment of the cremains will be held at a later date at The Sanders Family Cemetery in Dalton, NE.
