Elizabeth "Betty" Spencer

Elizabeth "Betty" Spencer, 85, of Ogallala, died Tuesday, September 2, 2014, in Great Plains Health in North Platte. Betty was born September 10, 1928, in Oshkosh, Nebr., the daughter of John and Mae (Briggs) Real. She attended school in Oshkosh. On March 17, 1950, Betty married Harl H. Spencer in Brule. The couple made their home in Ogallala. She was employed working as a housekeeper for several Ogallala motels. Betty attended the First Baptist Church in Ogallala. She moved to the Sutherland Care Center in October 2010. Preceding her in death was her husband, her daughter Patricia Romero in 2013, and her parents. Survivors include her son Kent Spencer and his wife Yvonne of Des Moines, Iowa; two brothers: William (Helen) Real of Boulder, Colo. and Richard (Harriet) Real of Maine. Also eight grandchildren, 26 great-grandchildren, and three great-great-grandchildren. Visitation will be Thursday, Sept. 4, from 9 a.m. to the time of the funeral service at 11 a.m. in Draucker Funeral Home. Rev. Kent Spencer of the North Ridge Baptist Church of Des Moines, Iowa, will officiate. Interment is in the Brule Cemetery. A memorial has been established to the Sutherland Care Center.
