Edward Herman Knapp, Jr.

Edward H. Knapp, Jr., 92, longtime Ogallala resident, died Sunday, April 24, 2016, in the Sutherland Care Center. Edward Herman Knapp, Jr. was born in Madison County, Nebraska on September 30, 1923, the son of Edward Knapp, Sr., and Linda Nathan Knapp. He attended St. Johns Lutheran School at Green Garden in Madison County and later graduated from Madison High School. He was united in marriage to Wilma Lillie Bickley on January 28, 1945 in Madison, NE. During their early years together, Ed engaged in farming and mechanic work. He worked as a state scale inspector in Columbus and then moved to Brule, NE in 1973. He was also employed at Humphrey Auto Supply and Ogallala Electronics in Ogallala. Ed & Wilma were members at St. Pauls Lutheran Church in Ogallala, NE. Ed enjoyed fishing, gardening, playing pool, cards, checkers, and cribbage. Ed is survived by his four children and their spouses, Connie Gray of Seattle, WA; Bonnie & Mike Scaggs of Troy, IL; Don & Connie Knapp of Ogallala, NE; and Ken & Linda Knapp of Kent, WA; eleven grandchildren; sixteen great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild. He is preceded in death by his wife, Wilma L. Knapp; his parents, and his sister, Lorine Carroll. Cremation was chosen. Memorial Services for Ed will be Thursday, May 12th at 10:00 a.m. at St. Pauls Lutheran Church with the Rev. John Stubenrouch officiating. The Service will be live streamed from drauckerfuneralhome.com, for those unable to attend. A private inurnment in the Brule Cemetery will take place at a later date.
