Douglas Leroy Lee

Douglas Leroy Lee, 80, of Grant, died June 17, 2016, in Perkins County Health Services. Doug was born January 22, 1936, in Greeley, Colo., the son of Douglas P. and Hazel (Drown) Lee. The family moved several times when Doug was a young child and they settled in New York City. After attending schools in New York City he was employed in the Flushing Bay area as an aviation electronics technician. Doug relocated to West Palm Beach, Flo. where he continued his career. Later he became an industrial photographer. In the 1970's Doug semi-retired and purchased a sail boat and spent time in the Bahamas and the Keys. He moved to Colorado Springs in 1996 and worked construction. While there he met Melody McCowin and they were married February 2, 2000 in a wedding chapel in Old Colorado City. The couple made their home in Grant, Nebr. where they retired. Doug enjoyed the Grant and Ogallala area. He was preceded in death by his parents and several pets. Survivors include his wife Melody Lee of Grant; sons: Joseph D. Lee of Jupiter, Flo., and Jay R. Lee (fianc Jeanne Rosenberg) of Fortine, Montana; daughter Janice (Paul) Unger of Orlando, Flo.; step-daughter Robin Chambers of Ogallala; and two grandchildren. The family chose cremation.
