Dorothy Howard

Dorothy Howard, 82, longtime Ogallala resident, died Sunday, November 2, 2014, at Indian Hills Healthcare Community. Dorothy was born September 18, 1932 in Norfolk, Nebr., the daughter of Lawrence and Cora (Seaburg) Rice. As a young child she moved with her family to Scottsbluff. After graduating from Scottsbluff High School in 1951 Dorothy attended the University of Nebr. at Lincoln for a short time. She met Kenneth N. Howard while living in Scottsbluff and they were married on June 6, 1954. The couple made their home in Lincoln while Kenneth was in dental college. They moved to Ogallala in 1958. Dorothy was a homemaker and had a commitment to loving her family well. Her hobbies included fishing, camping, traveling, reading, playing piano and organ, and gardening. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church. Preceding her in death were her parents and her brother Don Rice. Survivors include her husband Kenneth Howard of Ogallala, and her sons: Dave (Connie) Howard of Lodgepole, Steven Howard of Ogallala, and Robert (Jill) Howard of Delaware, Ohio. A brother Larry (Margie) Rice of Belton, MO. Also nine grandchildren and one great-grandchild. Visitation will be Friday, Nov. 7, from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. in Draucker Funeral Home. The Funeral Service will be Saturday, November 8, at 10 a.m. in the First United Methodist Church. The service will be live streamed for those unable to attend.
