Listen to Obituary

Dorothy (Olson) Glenn, age 78, of Ogallala, NE died Monday, August 11, 2025, at Indian Hills Manor in Ogallala, NE.

Dorthy was born on December 11th, 1946, in Minden, Nebraska to Wayne and Esther (Warnken) Olson. She attended Minden public schools and graduated from Minden High School with the class of 1965. She started dating James Glenn as a freshman in Minden. She and James wed August 26th, 1967, while both were students at Kearney State College. Dorothy earned her bachelor’s degree in elementary education from Kearney State in the spring of 1968 and started teaching in Overton while Jim finished his degree program. They moved to Gering, Nebraska in the summer of 1969 to start their careers and their family together.

Dorothy was an elementary teacher in Scottsbluff for several years, spent one year as a music teacher in Melbeta, then taught social studies at Haig rural school for years. Their son Jason was born in 1971 while they lived in Gering, followed by their other son Jeremy in 1973. During the summer of 1985, the family returned to Minden where Dorothy was an elementary teacher. She thoroughly enjoyed watching her two sons participate in athletics, band, musicals, and other activities. Another job change by Jim took them to Ogallala, Nebraska in the fall of 1990. Dorothy taught at Progress Elementary and Prairie View Elementary until her retirement in 2009.

Since her retirement, Dorothy played a lot of cards – bridge being a favorite – and enjoyed time with her friends and family.

A Memorial Service will be held Friday, August 15, 2025, at 2:00 PM at The First United Methodist Church in Ogallala, NE with Rev. Curt Magelky officiating.
