Doris Dykes Obituary Doris Loree Dykes, age 68, of Axtell, Nebraska, formerly of Arthur passed away on Thursday, July 15, 2021 at Mosaic of the Great Plains in Axtell, Nebraska, surounded by her loving friends and care givers. Doris was born September 8, 1952 in North Platte, NE to Robert K. and Odeth I. (Huffman) Dykes, the oldest of their four children. Doris lived her first 5 years in McPherson County, and in November 1957 the family moved to their new ranch home in Baldey Valley in Arthur County. On July 1, 1982 Doris moved to the Bethphage Village (now Mosaic of the Great Plains) in Axtell Nebraska for more varied opportunities in her life. Doris attended ESU#16 school at Ogallala from August 1968 to May 1970. She then worked at PAKS workshop until her move to Axtell. Doris loved music, cats, square dancing and riding her three wheeled bicycle. She enjoyed having coffee every morning with her friends and the staff at Mosaic. Doris had a sense of humor that could catch you unaware and had some zinger statements on her view of people and life! Doris is survived by her sisters, Nancy Dykes of Oxford, Nebraska, and Eloise Dykes of Ogallala, Nebraska., nephew, Robert V (Tina) Dykes; and a multitude of cousins and friends. She was preceded in death by her grandparents Bird and Ruby Huffman, Elva and Howard Dykes; parents, Robert and Odeth Dykes, brother David Dykes, three nieces, Rachel Jean, Maria Cathleen and Sheena Marie Dykes. Graveside services will be held at 9:00 AM on Wednesday, July 21, 2021 at the Arthur Cemetery, Arthur Nebraska with Rev. Chuck Rager of the United Methodist Church, Ogallala, Nebraska officiating. Interment will take place in the Arthur Cemetery . Memorials are suggested to Mosaic of the Great Plains 1044 23rd Road; Axtell Nebraska 68949 or the animal rescue of your choice.
