Dennis John Dunwoody

Dennis Dunwoody, age 82, of Ogallala, passed away peacefully at his home on May 8, 2026.

Dennis was born on March 21, 1944, in Ogallala, Nebraska, to John and Marjorie (Cooney) Dunwoody. He attended Ogallala Public Schools and spent most of his life in the community he proudly called home.

In 1965, Dennis was drafted into the United States Army. He faithfully served his country until receiving his discharge on June 28, 1967. Following his military service, Dennis returned to Ogallala and began working for McGinley-Schliz Feed Lot, where he dedicated 38 years of hard work before retiring.

In 1984, Dennis married the love of his life Estelle Williams.

Dennis was well known around town for riding his bike and stopping to visit with friends. He enjoyed the simple pleasures of life and the many friendships he made throughout the years. He will be remembered for his friendly nature, hardworking spirit, and the kindness he showed to others.

Dennis will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him.

Dennis was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Estelle and his brother Larry.

Inurnment will take place on Friday, May 22, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. mountain time at the Fort McPherson Cemetery in Maxwell, Nebraska with Military Honors by Keith County Veterans Honor Squad.
