David L. Freeman, 55, of Ogallala, died Sunday, February 2, 2014 in the Good Samaritan Hospital in Kearney. David was born November 24, 1958 in North Platte, the son of Arnold and Lucille (Powell) Freeman. He attended school in Paxton, graduating in 1977. He worked various jobs including railroad, construction, and tree service. In 1987 he began operating Freeman Trucking Company. He was the third generation person to operate the trucking company out of Paxton. In 1988 Dave was united in marriage to Tania T. Burrows at the Paxton Methodist Church. The couple made their home in Paxton during which time they became the proud parents of two daughters. In 2000 they moved to Lewellen where Dave started an automotive repair shop. Dave was a fishing guide on Lake McConaughy and also entered as many walleye fishing tournaments as he could. In 2005 the couple moved to Ogallala and Dave was employed in the maintenance department of the Ogallala High School. His hobbies included fishing, hunting, gardening, meat smoking, and making deer salami. Preceding him in death were his parents and two sisters: Elizabeth Harrison and Deborah Givens, and a brother-in-law Cecil Givens. Survivors include his wife Tania Freeman and two daughters: Katherine (husband Zachary) Smith, and Amber Freeman, all of Ogallala and one brother Arnold (wife Liz) Freeman of Lincoln and several nieces and nephews. The visitation will be Friday, February 7, from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. at Draucker Funeral Home. The Funeral Service will be Saturday, Febr. 8, at 10 a.m. in New Hope Worship Center with Rev. Eric Wait officiating. Cremation will follow. A memorial has been established in his name.
