David Emerald Williams, 69, of Antioch, IL, passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, July 31, 2014, at Advocate Condell Medical Center, Libertyville, IL. David was born March 12, 1945, in Chappell, NE, the son of Brinkley and Bette (Chesmore) Williams. He attended elementary school in Lisco and attended Garden County High School in Oshkosh, NE. At the age of seventeen he joined the Navy where he continued his education. David served on the USS Delta, the USS Camden, and the USS Dixion. He served his country across the world and was stationed at Panama Canal, Japan, Philippines, Vietnam and numerous other countries. He received the Good Conduct Award, Combat Action ribbon, Gallantry Cross Medal, Meritorious Unit Commendation, Navy Unit Commendation, National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal, Vietnam Service Medal W/Star and Civil Action W/Palm. David served for twenty years, retiring as a Chief Petty Officer. He then worked as an electrician with IBEW Local 150. On September 25, 1982, David married Marsha Pannell in Great Lakes, IL. Preceding him in death was his daughter Melissa, his parents, and his sister Bonnie Kay Williams. Survivors include his wife Marsha, three daughters: Elizabeth Kreiling, Mindy Gann, and Stephanie Cusimano, all of Antioch, IL; three brothers: Gene (Barb) Williams of Cheyenne, WY, Gerald Williams of Dallas, TX., and Donald (Bonnie) Williams of Orchard, NE; and sister Barbara (Rob) Roderick of Sidney, NE.; also seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Cremation was chosen. Family and friends will gather at Draucker Funeral Home on Saturday, September 27, at 9 a.m. and proceed to the Oshkosh Cemetery for graveside inurnment services beginning at 11 a.m. Rev. Curtis Tschetter of the Ogallala First Baptist Church will officiate. Military honors will be rendered by Keith County Veterans Organization. A memorial has been established in his name.
